Women career in Engineering

On Friday, April 15th 2016, Anna Maria Burrafato, a Piping Stress Analysis Engineer of APS, represented our Company in the event “To become an engineer – it’s a game for girls”. The event took place at Sapienza University, in the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering with the aim to encourage more girls to choose a career in this field.

Numbers show that female engineers are still the minority as it has always been a male-dominated profession. However, all the speakers of the event were women engineers that represented concrete examples of successful careers.
Universities and the Engineering industry have begun to recognize the need for women engineers and the number of female engineers in APS has increased over the years. In addition, female engineers have important key roles in our Company: Head of Proposals Manager, Head of Process & Technologies Department and Head of Engineering Department are only some examples.
The event was a great initiative to promote engineering careers to young women showing them real prospects and opportunities in this sector and to demonstrate that success depends on hard work.
